The Shannon Information Capacity of an Arbitrary Radiating Surface: An Electromagnetic Approach

Utilizing a cross-disciplinary approach, we explore Shannon information-theoretic characterizations of the information capacity limits generic electromagnetic (EM) surfaces intended for possible use in wireless communication links. Our principal task is to first formulate at general and rigorous level EM theory that can be extracted from Maxwellian fields radiated by an arbitrarily shaped continuous surface. This then followed detailed derivation illustration practical physics-informed algorithms computing approximations with any given geometry operating Gaussian channels. formalism address both near- far-field scenarios, mathematical treatment includes complete characterization source-field polarization structure, mutual coupling, interactions.
